The barefoot from a side view shows the peak pressures of metatarsals
3-5. The tilt view shows the absence of pressure under metatarsals 1-2.
With the patients own orthotics the high peaks of pressure in the center
of the foot is the front edge of the patient's orthotic and is to be disregarded.
On the side view it appears that patient's orthotic has reduced pressure
across the forefoot, but when we tilt the 3D image we can see metatarsals
2-5 carrying most of the load (count from the outside to inside) and we
see that the first metatarsal is not sharing the load. The right foot with
the SDO shows a much better spread of force across the metatarsals from
the side and on the tilt view, we see all 5 metatarsals active in supporting
weight and force.
